Pastel 6” x 6” matted and framed in a 12" x 12" frame

Today’s painting was inspired by a hilarious conversation I had recently had with one of my good friends (we will call her Jack as in Jack Daniels to protect her identity).  Over the last few years, I have reconnected with many friends I haven’t seen in years.  I love painting work that reminds us of the good times we’ve all shared with friends along the way.

Jack and I may or may not have drunk a little Tennessee Whiskey in our younger years wink.  My mom might be reading this.  Cheers to Jack . . she now lives in Tennessee.

As we reminisced about some of the crazy things we did in high school and college she reminded of some of the funny drawings I always did in class.  Jack always knew someday I would be an artist.

I'm sharing something delicious with you today!

I’ll bet you thought it was going to be whiskey shooters lol!  Be sure to listen to Chris Stapleton sing his version of ‘Tennessee Whiskey’ while you are making your cake.  Bottom up!

Whiskey Cake

½ cup chopped pecans

1 package of yellow butter cake mix

1 small box of instant vanilla pudding (3.4 oz.)

½ cup Jack Daniels whiskey (any brand of whiskey is fine)

½ cup water

½ cup vegetable oil

4 eggs

Glaze

1 cup sugar

1 stick of butter

¼ cup Jack Daniels whiskey (or any brand of whiskey is fine)

¼ cup water

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
2. Grease and flour bundt pan.
3. Sprinkle chopped nuts in the bottom of the pan.
4. In a large bowl, mix eggs, oil, water and whiskey.
5. Stir in dry ingredients (cake mix and pudding mix).
6. Pour cake batter into bundt pan.
7. Bake for 50 – 60 minutes at 325 degrees.
8. When cake is almost done baking, make the glaze. Combine sugar, butter, whiskey and water in a pan. Bring to a boil and cook, stirring constantly, for 2 – 3 minutes.
9. Remove cake from bundt pan and place right side up. Poke small holes in the top of the cake (if you want). Carefully pour the warm glaze over the entire cake. The recipe makes a lot of glaze, so make sure that you have a cake plate/pan with high enough sides to catch the run-off. Definitely scoop this glaze run-off on top of the cake slices when served. Yum!

Thank you to A Pretty Happy Home for this delicious recipe.
